Dear Howard University Community:
I would like to express thanks to the military veterans of our nation for their selfless service and dedication to the freedom and defense of our country. In recognition of the Veterans Day holiday, the University will be closed on Friday, Nov. 10, 2017. The University will reopen on Monday, Nov.13, 2017.
The Faculty Practice Plan will continue to operate business as usual on Friday because of the nature of the services they render. Only essential employees are expected to report to work on Friday. Essential services include those provided by ETS, WHUR-FM, WHUR-TV, Physical Facilities Management, Public Safety, and the Howard University Hospital.
All essential employees will receive equivalent administrative leave for a future date, which will be determined by their manager. This information will be provided in a separate memorandum from the cabinet member responsible for each department that provides essential services. Managers should ensure that all employees within their purview are in receipt of this notice.
Please note that the Howard University Law Library will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. All other University libraries, and the iLab will be closed Friday. Founders Library and the iLab will reopen on Saturday, Nov. 11.
Best wishes for a safe holiday!
Excellence in Truth and Service,
Wayne A. I. Frederick, M.D., MBA
