Howard Moves Up in National Rankings
Dear Howard University Community:
Today is an especially proud day to be a Howard University Bison. Announced this morning, Howard University climbed 14 spots to No. 110 in the latest rankings of the nation’s best universities by U.S. News & World Report. Howard was also ranked #2 on the Top 10 List of Best HBCUs and rose five spots to No. 128 in the listing of the Best Undergraduate Business Programs.
I am grateful for our Howard University community and each of you who have demanded that we remain steadfast in our commitment to excellence, leadership, truth, and service while never compromising our values.
Because ranking systems are often skewed against institutions like ours, we have a lot to celebrate. This improvement is a testimony to the talent of our students, faculty, and staff, as well as to the contributions that our alumni donors have made. It is also the realization of a strong vision that required us to focus on academic excellence, graduation retention rates, and improving our placement as a competitive institution of higher education.
This year, we have celebrated many accomplishments from athletics to academics, research to real estate, and faculty development to finances. Also, we welcomed one of the largest incoming freshman classes in recent history. With an average 3.52 grade point average, and 1200 SAT score, the class of 2021’s academic prowess is certainly impressive. Even more impressive is their commitment to making a positive impact on society. As the quality of our throughput improves, we will continue to admit students who are dedicated to achieving excellence in every endeavor.
I salute our faculty and staff members who always put the needs of our students first. The Office of Undergraduate Studies supports the initiatives developed to help retain our students and ensure they achieve on-time degree completion. To continue this path of excellence, Howard will continue to provide an enhanced academic environment with high-quality teaching and research.
It is because of our community that Howard remains one of the nation’s best universities. The value of Howard University’s impact on the nation and the world is evident in our competitive students, faculty, staff, and our many stellar alumni.
Please join me in celebrating the invaluable contributions and unwavering commitment of all students, faculty, staff, and alumni.
Excellence in Truth and Service,
Wayne A. I. Frederick, M.D., MBA
