Presidents' Day 2018
Dear Howard University Community,
Much has changed since 1796 when America celebrated its first Presidents’ Day. Our greatest chief executives have worked to manifest the spirit of E Pluribus Unum: out of many, one. I am inspired that Howard University continues to produce diverse leaders grounded in their history and unified in their commitment to move our nation closer to the true intersection of truth and service
In recognition of Presidents’ Day, the University will be closed Monday, February 19, 2018, and will reopen Tuesday, February 20, 2018. The Faculty Practice Plan will be open for normal business hours on Monday, February 19, 2018. Employees determined to be essential are expected to report to work on Monday, February 19, 2018. Essential services include those provided by Enterprise Technology Services, WHUR-FM, WHUT-TV, Physical Facilities Management, Public Safety, and Howard University Hospital.
Essential employees will receive equivalent administrative leave for a future date to be determined by their manager. That information will be covered in a separate memorandum to be issued by the Cabinet member responsible for departments that provide essential services. Managers, please ensure that all employees under your purview are in receipt of this notice.
Excellence in Truth and Service,
Wayne A. I. Frederick, M.D., MBA
