Dear Howard University Community,

I am pleased to announce that we have opened the decanal search for the College of Arts and Sciences. Dean Yolanda Pierce, School of Divinity, has agreed to chair the committee comprised of faculty, students, staff and alumni.

We anticipate the new dean will bring leadership and vision to the college, while preparing students to work in all arenas associated with the divisions of Fine Arts, Humanities, Natural Sciences and Social Sciences. The dean will promote academic excellence through the educational and research programs of the college, while building alignment with internal and external stakeholders in the areas of Arts and Sciences. Commencement Honorary Degree Recipients

Dear Howard University Community,

I am pleased to announce that the University will confer four honorary degrees during the 2018 commencement convocation.
This year’s honorees include actor and alumnus Chadwick Boseman who will deliver the 2018 Howard University commencement address and be awarded an honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters. A native of South Carolina, Boseman graduated from Howard University and attended the British American Dramatic Academy at Oxford. After which Boseman began his career as an actor, director, and writer. He starred as T'Challa/Black Panther in the Marvel Studios worldwide phenomena “Black Panther” and “Avengers: Infinity War.”

2018 Commencement Speaker Announcement

Dear Howard University Community,

I am excited to announce that award-winning actor, and proud son of Howard, Chadwick Boseman will welcome the Class of 2018 as the commencement orator during Howard University’s 150th Commencement Convocation on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Mr. Boseman will address members of the Class of 2018, their families, University trustees, officers, faculty, staff, and alumni. Howard University will confer upon Mr. Boseman the University’s highest honor, an honorary degree, Doctor of Humane Letters.

Chadwick Boseman was born in South Carolina and went on to attend Howard University, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts. He then attended the British American Drama Academy in Oxford, England after which he went on to enjoy early success as a stage actor, writer, and director.
