High School Tour Groups:

The Office of Admission welcomes high schools, community colleges, and other special groups of no more than 100 students to schedule a visit to campus. The Office of Admission requires groups to provide one (1) chaperone per twenty-five (25) students to ensure effective management of the group. We offer group visits during the fall and spring semesters at the following time:

  • Monday through Friday at 10 a.m. or at 2 p.m.

Your visit will include an admission presentation providing information on Howard’s legacy and tradition, financial aid, housing, and extra-curricular activities. Following your session, your group will be led on a walking tour around campus, led by one of our Student Ambassadors. The presentation and tour will last approximately 2 hours.

Elementary/Middle School Tour Groups:

We believe that it is important to expose students to their post-secondary options early on in their academic careers. We welcome younger groups of no more than 100 students to schedule a visit to campus. The Office of Admission requires groups to one (1) chaperone per twenty-five (25) students to ensure effective management of the group. We offer visits during the fall and spring, beginning in October through May at following time:

  • Monday through Friday at 10 a.m.

During your visit, students will participate in a scavenger hunt versus a seated admission presentation. The scavenger hunt is designed to provide a fun and informational campus experience. We will provide the group with packages containing campus clues and directions to conduct an interactive tour of Howard University. At the conclusion of the activity, students will meet with a Student Ambassador for a brief reflection and Q&A session.

To schedule a visit for your group, a minimum two week notice is required, and we will do our best to honor your requested visit date. Please send your request to campustour@howard.edu detailing:

  • Desired visit date and time
  • Name of your organization
  • Contact Information
  • Number of students attending and grade level
  • Number of chaperones

Availability for daily campus visits and tours are limited and our calendar fills up quickly. Our peak season occurs during the spring semester (January-April). So it is best to schedule a visit as far in advance as possible. Upon receipt of your request, we will respond within two (2) business days.

Dining on Campus

The Office of Admission is happy to assist groups who wish to dine on campus during their visit. Groups can enjoy our dining services in the Blackburn Center Café (main dining hall). In the main dining hall, students can choose from a buffet style menu and enjoy an all-you-can-eat dining experience for approximately $9.00. The menu changes daily.

Groups who are interested in having lunch on campus must indicate their intent when requesting their campus visit. From there, the Office of Admission will assist with facilitating your request with our catering services.
