Gerson Mario is a lawyer with four years of experience. He served as legal adviser on technology matters for the Ministry of Science and Technology of Angola. Currently, Gerson is a special contributor providing legal support to UniNet, the institution managing the Angola Domain Name System (DNS.AO), and the representative body of the government at the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). Gerson served as main Speaker, advocating technological independence to safeguard the sovereignty of Angola. Gerson also works for BP Angola as Paralegal where he has the opportunity to provide legal support on various matters. Gerson is the Vice-President of Discovery Friends Club, a non-profit organization for the free promotion of the English language learning and philanthropy. Gerson holds a Master Degree in Law of Oil and Gas, from Agostinho Neto University, where he focused on the use of renewable energy sources for a sustainable economic future. Gerson is driven by his commitment to the world’s digital democracy. Upon completion of the Mandela Washington Fellowship, he plans to continue his work through UniNet and the ICANN, advocating the construction of technological infrastructures and laws which set data and privacy protection rules.
