The Charter Day Celebration: A Virtual Experience

The annual Charter Day Celebration, traditionally held the day after the Convocation, is the culminating event of a weekend dedicated to celebrating the anniversary of the signing of the University Charter by President Andrew Johnson on March 2, 1867. This year’s Celebration was a virtual experience live streamed Saturday, March 5, 2022, beginning at 7:00 p.m. (EST).

Like no other event on the University calendar, the Charter Day Celebration displays the University’s strengths in many dimensions. The Celebration showcases the University's enduring qualities in the development of excellence and leadership, as will be reflected in tributes, on March 5, to outstanding alumni; its attractiveness to, and substantive partnership with, the corporate world; and its continuing relevance to the community as well as students, alumni and friends of all ages.

Morris Chestnut will be the Master of Ceremonies for this year's Charter Day Celebration.
